For Ming Ming’s Kitchen, one of those moments came in 2020, when The Courier-Mail named Ming Ming’s Kitchen among Brisbane’s Top Vietnamese Restaurants, just six months after the restaurant first opened its doors in Wilston.
For a young restaurant that had only just begun its journey, the recognition was incredibly meaningful. Even more so because those first six months were anything but ordinary.
Founded by Ming and her partner Tony in 2020, Ming Ming’s Kitchen was created with a simple idea: to share the flavours of Northern Vietnam, inspired by the food, family traditions and memories of growing up in Hanoi.
A Young Restaurant With a Big Dream
When Ming Ming’s Kitchen opened in Wilston, the vision was never simply to serve Vietnamese food.
It was about creating a place where people could gather around a table, share delicious food and experience the flavours of Northern Vietnam in a warm, welcoming setting.
Ming grew up in Hanoi surrounded by family cooking and entertaining. Many of the flavours that inspire the restaurant today come from recipes and cooking traditions passed down through her grandmother, mother and aunties.
That connection to family remains at the heart of Ming Ming’s Kitchen.
The menu combines the comforting flavours of Northern Vietnamese cuisine with subtle modern touches and fresh, locally sourced Australian produce. Each dish is designed to be enjoyed, shared and remembered.

Just six months after opening, Ming Ming’s Kitchen received an incredible early milestone.
The Courier-Mail named Ming Ming’s Kitchen one of Brisbane’s Top 10 Vietnamese Restaurants.
The recognition appeared in The Courier-Mail’s Best of Brisbane series in October 2020, with Ming Ming’s Kitchen featured at its Wilston location on MacGregor Street.
At the time, the restaurant was still very new, but the recognition highlighted what made it stand out: fresh ingredients, Vietnamese flavours and a menu that offered something a little different.
For the team, it was an exciting moment that showed the restaurant was beginning to make its mark on Brisbane’s food scene.
And looking back, it was only the beginning.
