Founded in 2020 by Ming and Tony, Ming Ming’s Kitchen brings the fresh flavours and vibrant spirit of Northern Vietnamese cuisine to Brisbane. Inspired by their families’ love of cooking and entertaining while growing up in Hanoi, the restaurant was created to share the food, traditions and memories they grew up with. Every dish is crafted with care, designed for sharing and filled with the comforting flavours of home. The menu celebrates the beauty of Northern Vietnamese cuisine, enhanced with subtle modern touches and fresh, locally sourced Australian produce. This passion and commitment have made Ming Ming’s Kitchen a favourite among local families for casual dining, special celebrations, functions and catering.
Ming Ming’s Kitchen began with a simple idea: to share the Vietnamese food that Ming and Tony grew up loving with the Brisbane community.
Our menu reflects the Vietnamese traditions, flavours and memories that have inspired us from the beginning. Rooted in Northern Vietnamese cuisine, it brings together traditional flavours with subtle modern touches, using fresh, locally sourced Australian produce and prepared with care, passion and a genuine love for cooking.
Every dish is thoughtfully prepared with care, passion and a genuine love for Vietnamese food. And for them, Vietnamese food has always been about more than what’s on the plate. It is about gathering around a table, sharing food, telling stories and creating a place where people feel at home.
Starting a restaurant was never going to be an easy journey. The couple opened during an incredibly challenging time, navigating COVID and the Brisbane floods while also welcoming their twins along the way. There were plenty of moments that tested them, but their passion for food and hospitality kept them moving forward.
Within just six months of opening, Ming Ming’s Kitchen was named one of Brisbane’s Top 7 Vietnamese Restaurants by The Courier-Mail. It was an incredibly special milestone and a reminder that the hard work, long days and dedication were worth it.
Since then, Ming Ming’s Kitchen has continued to grow, guided by the same love and values it was built on. As Ming Ming’s Kitchen grew, so did the dream of sharing Vietnamese food with more people.
In 2022, Ming and Tony opened Pho Real Vietnamese in Augustine Heights, followed by Annamese by Ming Ming at Brisbane Quarter in 2025. Each restaurant is different, but they are all built on the same values: a passion for Vietnamese food, a love for family and bringing the community together.
The journey has also brought meaningful recognition. In 2024, Ming was named one of Queensland’s 40 Under 40, recognising her contribution to the community and her work in hospitality. In 2026, Ming Ming’s Kitchen was named a finalist in the Queensland & Northern Territory Restaurant & Catering Hostplus Awards for Excellence and a National Finalist for Best Vietnamese at The Australian Dining Awards.
For Ming and Tony, however, some of the most rewarding moments are much closer to home: seeing familiar faces return, welcoming families through the doors, celebrating birthdays and milestones together, and watching guests introduce their loved ones to the food they have grown to love. What began as a simple idea has grown into something much bigger, but the purpose remains clear: to share good Vietnamese food, bring people together and create a place that feels like home.
