OUR JOURNEY

Founded in 2020 by Ming and her partner Tony, Ming Ming’s Kitchen brings a fresh taste and vibrant vibe of Northern Vietnamese cuisine to Brisbane. All the food is inspired by their families’ love for cooking and entertaining while growing up in Hanoi. Each dish is crafted with love, designed for sharing, and full of the comforting tastes of home. Our menu celebrates the beauty of Northern Vietnamese cuisine, enhanced with subtle fusion touches using fresh, locally sourced Australian produce. Our passion and commitment have made us a favourite among local families for casual dining, special functions, and catering.

In 2022, Ming and Tony opened Pho Real Vietnamese in Augustine Heights, followed by Annamese by Ming Ming at Brisbane Quarter in 2025, bringing their love of Vietnamese food to more communities across Brisbane.

In 2026, Ming Ming's Kitchen was named a finalist in the Queensland & Northern Territory Restaurant & Catering Hostplus Awards for Excellence. We are incredibly honoured to receive this recognition, and this achievement reflects the passion, dedication, and hard work of our entire team, as well as the continued support of our valued customers and local community.

Minh Trang Tran came to Australia as an overseas student and, after completing a Bachelor of Business and Hotel Management in Melbourne, settled in Brisbane to make her home. She and her partner founded Ming Ming’s Kitchen in 2020 when Ming was just 23 years old. Despite battling much turbulence – Covid-19, Brisbane floods, obtaining permanent residency and falling pregnant with twins – within six months of opening the restaurant was ranked the seventh best Vietnamese restaurant in Brisbane by The Courier-Mail. Unlike many Vietnamese restaurants in Brisbane, Ming Ming’s Kitchen serves Northern-style Vietnamese food, drawn from the recipes of Ming’s grandmother, mother and aunties. With her food and the ‘unique and funky’ vibes of Ming Ming’s Kitchen, Ming seeks to challenge and expand Brisbane’s conceptions of Vietnamese cuisine and culture.

To start there are 'Smalls' such as Ming Ming's wings (with sweet chilli teriyaki or garlic fish sauce), crispy mushrooms, pork wontons, salt'n'pepper tofu or sweet donuts; or a choice of Vietnamese rolls, either spring or rice paper. To follow there's Salad bowls (seared wagyu beef, shredded chicken or veges'n'tofu) or Vermicelli Salads and Rice Dishes such as 'bo kho' beef stew, grilled chicken thigh or slow cooked pork belly.

Mains to share such as slow-cooked pork belly, soy, pepper and a hint of honey, with sides of steamed rice and vegetables.

Sherry's Pickings

I loved these tempura prawns, with pickles and mayo. The prawns were crunchy-coated, tender inside, delicious mouthfuls. I loved it, and have had this dish a couple of times since. I believe this will be on their full menu when the time is right - post-virus. Yay! I do love me a Japanese repast (even tho' this is a Vietnamese restaurant), so I was very happy to have this flavoursome dish.

"We visited Easter weekend and the food next level beautiful one of my favorite restaurants to go even if I go there every once in a while it never has disappointed! Service seriously amazing the young waiter that we had he was working alone but was so attentive and friendly and polite."
